The College was established in the year 2003 after the State Government gave permission to start college on ‘permanently unaided basis’. It is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. Conveniently located at Mulund (East), on Mithagar Road, it is situated at a walking distance from Mulund station on the Central Railway.
Though it was initially started with BCom and BSc (IT) in 2003, other courses such as BSc (Computer Science), BCom (Banking & Insurance), BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies), BCom (Accounting & Finance), BMM (Bachelor of Mass Media) were added subsequently. Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s Rammiklal Z. Shah College of Arts, Science and Commerce has completed a decade in the field of higher education. Starting with BCom and BSc (IT) Course in 2003, today the College offers the traditional BA, BSc, BCom Courses along with BMM, BSc (CS), BCom. B&I, BMS and BCom. A&F. This is the outcome of the enthusiasim, dedication, hard work and co-operation of all who have been associated with the institution. Looking back through the journey of 10 years gives a sense of contentment and also realization that there is much more to be done.
The College provides facility for the academic, social and moral development of students. There are opportunities for community service and camp experience through NSS, Sports to inculcate the values of team spirit and cultural forums like Kannada Associtaion, Marathi Wangmya Mandal, Science Association and Scocial Science Associtaion to expose the students to the vast ethics of Indian culture. The ultimate objective is to mould our students into rational thinkers, globally competent workers and socially responsible citizens.
