Since inception, the CIS organised several public lectures. The following are some important ones:

“India Pakistan Relations Since the Agra Summit” by Lt. Col. (Dr.) K. K. Puri on 31st August 2001 at VPM’s Laxmibai Tol Sabhagriha. More than one hundred fifty teachers and members of public attended it.

Dr. R. G. Gidadhubli, Former Director, Centre for Soviet Studies and Senate Member, University of Mumbai delivered a lecture on “ Russia’s Quest for Oil Supremacy” on 28th February 2003.
Dr. B.Ramesh Babu, formerly Sir Perozeshah Mehta Prof. of Politics and head, Dept. of Civics and Politics, University of Mumbai delivered a lecture on “Bush, Blair & World Order” on 23rd April 2003.

Shri. Balbir Punj, M.P. Rajya Sabha delivered a lecture on “Indo-Pakistan Relations: The Way Ahead” on 20th February 2004 on the occasion of the inauguration of the CIS Conference Room.
A lecture on “Rich Nations and Poor Nations: Emerging North South Encounter” by Dr. R.R. Ramchandani, Former Professor of African Studies & Director, Dept. of East African Studies, Mumbai University was organised on 31st July 2004 which was presided by Dr. A. P.Rana, Former Professor of Political Science, M.S. University of Baroda. The talk discussed the increasing divide between the rich nations and the poor nations.

Shri Dhananjay Kamlakar, IPS spoke on “Cyber Terrorism: Implications for India’s Security” on 30th September 2004. In association with Friends of Tibet (India), CIS organised a one day Tibetan Film Festival on 25th September 2004. One feature film, Kundun, and two documentaries, Cry of the Snowlion and Devotion and Defiance were screened at the festival.
A lecture-cum-discussion on “Crisis in the Middle East” by Mr. Danny Rubinstein was held on 18th February 2007. Mr. Danny Rubinstein is a veteran Israeli journalist. He is working with Daily Haaretz as a columnist and also a member of its Editorial Board.

A lecture-cum-discussion on ‘Israel’s National Security and the Conflict in the Middle East’ by Prof. Efraim Inbar was held on 20th January 2008.

A film “An Inconvenient Truth”, made by Al Gore, former Vice-President and Democratic Presidential candidate, in 2000 US elections was screened on 30th April 2008 with the cooperation of American Cultural Centre. Ms Elizabeth Kauffman, Director, American Center and Public Affairs Section Consulate General of the United States of America, Mumbai introduced the film.

A lecture on “Maritime Challenges with Reference to Piracy in the Gulf of Aden” was delivered on 21st January 2009 by Dr. V.S. Sheth, Adjunct Professor, Centre for African Studies, University of Mumbai. As many as 19 scholars attended the talk. The lecture was chaired by Dr. R.R. Ramchandani while Dr. (Mrs) V. Mohan introduced the speaker and Dr. R.G. Gidadhubli proposed a vote of thanks. Text of the lecture is available as a booklet.
A lecture-cum-discussion on “Israel’s War against Hamas Terror Network in Gaza” was held on 9th February 2009. The lecture was delivered by Mrs. Orna Sagiv, Consul General of Israel, Mumbai. Chairman, Shri N. B. H. Kulkarni presided over the lecture and Dr. R.G. Gidadhubli proposed the vote of thanks. The lecture was well attended with 29 invitees participating in the lecture.

Shri Jay Deshmukh, Dy Bureau Chief, Agence Franc-Presse based in Iraq spoke on “Changing face of Iraq War” on 7th January 2010. A talk on “War & Democracy” was organized on 3rd March 2011 by Dr Paul I. Joseph, political sociologist and former Director of National Peace Studies Association, USA, and Fulbright-Nehru Fellow in J.N.U, New Delhi.

“BRICS-An Economic Threat to European Union” by Dr Manas Chatterjee, Prof of Management, State University of New York at Binghamton on 12th February 2012. A lecture on “The Future of US-Pakistan Relations” was held on 13 November 2014 by Dr. Daniel Markey, Senior Fellow for India, Pakistan and South Asia in Council on Foreign Relations, USA. Dr. Markey specializes in security and governance issues in South Asia.

A lecture on “Managing International Conflict: Theory and Praxis” was held on 25 November 2014 by Dr. Robert Lloyd, the Blanche E. Seaver Professor of International Studies and Languages, Professor of International Relations and Director of the International Studies Program at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. Currently, he is a Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Teaching / Research fellow affiliated with O.P. Jindal Global University, Haryana.
